Dear Mr. Waterman,

We consider your presence alone a huge gift to our daughter and our family.  In an age where the illusion is perpetuated that all knowledge can be transferred through a machine, the value of an exceptional human connection is heightened.  Thank you again for your patience, your good humor, and your extraordinary violin teaching expertise.  Our daughter is very blessed to be receiving her music education from you.

Sincerely, Lynetta W.

Rob Orman, MD

Jeremy is a teacher in the spirit of a Jedi master. I was looking for someone who could go deep into how to play an instrument properly without making it drudgery and that is exactly what I found. At the start, he asked what I wanted to get out of lessons and where I wanted to take playing the violin. Each lesson has been tailored to add another piece to that foundation.

He really keeps me interested in playing and that is the master skill.

Pros: Helpful, Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Funny, Fun, Good communicator

“My Beginner Says, “Awesome!”” ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

Kristi Weyland Taylor

My 10 year old daughter has been taking lessons with Jeremy for a few months now. She looks forward to her lessons, wants to practice, and always leaves her lessons excited.

She says Jeremy is very encouraging. He makes learning fun but at the same time is honest about putting in letting her know what she needs to work on, and that she has to work.

My daughter is very happy with Jeremy and I would happily recommend him to others.

Pros: Helpful, Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Funny, Fun, Good communicator

Ben, Portland, OR

I’ve been working with Jeremy for three years now and I am playing/ practicing more than ever. I just cant get enough of the exercises, songs, lessons or suggestions (always with the best intentions)! Simply put he is helping me discover the beauty of playing the violin. It just keeps getting better, I cant recommend him enough.

Pros: Helpful, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Fun, Good communicator

“Amazingly talented and very patient with kids” ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

Afazal, Tigard, OR

We have been very lucky to have found a teacher as talented as Jeremy for our 10 year old daughter, she always looks forward to her classes and is always excited to perform for friends. She loves the encouragement that she gets from Jeremy and most of all as a teacher he is exceptionally kind and patient. We’ve had a bad experience with a previous teacher after which my daughter did not feel very motivated to play Violin, but we are thrilled to have found Jeremy, we would highly recommend him to anyone.

Pros: Helpful, Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Fun, Good communicator

“Flawless Viola Teacher for Adults” ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

Andrew Fletcher

I’m 27 and haven’t taken a music related class in over 10 years, but Jeremy was the perfect catalyst to getting back in musical shape and becoming comfortable with an instrument again. One additional important element of Jeremy is that he’s always positive; I’ve had instructors that were nice on the first day then turn into total asses the next week if I screw up or forgot something, but Jeremy keeps the positive flows moving week after week with relevant lessons. Even on non-musical notes (no pun intended), I’ve been late a few times and even had to reschedule last minute one day, and instead of impaling me with my viola, Jeremy was understanding and worked with me 🙂

I can’t verify this, but it seems like Jeremy has different techniques for every student, so no matter who you are, how old you are, or how much you suck, Jeremy will find a way to adjust to you to make you better.

Pros: Helpful, Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Funny, Fun, Good communicator

An email I received:

Subject: Appreciation

Hey Man,

I want to express my appreciation for the parent session this morning. It is clear that this is about so much more than just the music to you. Changing the world, one tukka tukka at a time.
Thank you.

I’m an adult student and have been working with Jeremy for 6 years now. We have been working through the Suzuki method supplemented with additional etude and exercise books. He is a very talented musician but more importantly a wonderful teacher.
What I like: he is very organized, excited about teaching music, tailors lessons to his students needs, knows when to demand more and when I’m struggling with a particular exercise or piece and is comfortable working with a variety of different genres.

I consider myself very lucky to be working work with Jeremy, I can’t recommend him enough!
